Fashion Marketing 101

In short, fashion marketing is a profession that takes the latest trends and designs of clothing and conveys them to the target market in such a way that the consumer is not only aware of the product but also wants to buy the product and ultimately buy it. A target market is a segment of the consumer market to which the company wants to sell its clothing (ie, the market). To fully understand what fashion marketing is, it is important to understand that marketing does not stop at advertisements in magazines or on TV. The world of marketing is as dynamic as the world of fashion. Marketing apparel includes such elements as determining in which stores the apparel should be sold, at what price the apparel should be sold–such as what the in-store display should look like. Fashion marketers are often as savvy about business as they are about fashion and popular culture.
